PHOTO OF THE DAY: ELEVATED JOB
Workers from Maquire Iron of Sioux Falls are getting ready to finish up their first week of work on the city of Freeman’s water tower maintenance project, which is seeing general repair as well as a complete inside/outside overhaul of the paint job. Led-based paint that is chipping is partially what drove the city to take on the project, which is costing $50,000 annually for the next five years, and then $10,000 a year after that. Those fees cover both the project being done now, as well as any ongoing maintenance issues that may arise in the future. The steel bars you see at the top of the tower will be used for a tent that will cover the water tower from top to bottom as workers strip the structure of its blue paint. The new paint will be maroon and white with gold trim and will include the city of Freeman’s logo. The project is expected to take up to 45 days.
