FREEMAN ELEMENTARY ACTION PLAN

Freeman Elementary has released details about its plan to return to school next week and how it is dealing with COVID-19. The first day of the 2020-21 school year will be Wednesday, Aug. 19, with a 1 p.m. dismissal. 

BEFORE SCHOOL

Parents should self-screen their child using the COVID-19 Screening Question/Guidelines.
Staff will be required to self-screen using the COVID-19 Screening Question/Guidelines.
Elementary building will be locked including the office at all times.
Staff should enter through the side doors.
Access will be given through the Elementary office at 7:45 am into the entryway (Elementary students will not be allowed to enter the building through the high school). 
There will be a drop off box in the entryway for checks, papers and anything that needs to be given to the office.
 No visitors will be allowed in the office without an appointment.
Each grade level will have a section for their grade to play/line up in on the playground.  If the weather is inclement, students will then enter the building through the lunchroom entrance doors and proceed to their classroom.
Breakfast for the elementary will be a grab and go meal.  They will be passed out in the elementary lunchroom starting at 7:50 a.m.  Students will take the breakfast to the playground.
Student temperature checks will be completed as they enter the building.
First bell 8:05 a.m.  – staggered scheduled will be used to bring students into the building
School starts at 8:15 a.m.
DURING SCHOOL

Building and elementary office will remain locked.
Elementary classes will be socially distanced in pods by grade level.
All student desks will face forward (no tables or pods)
Staff dealing with multiple grade levels will be required to wear a mask.
Each teacher reserves the right to request their students to wear a mask.
All I.E.P. and parent meetings will be held on Zoom.
Lunch
Times will be extended for proper social distancing and only 3 grades per lunch period.
Student lunch numbers will NOT be keyed in by the student.
Silverware and salad bar items will be distributed by the lunch staff.
Each grade level will be socially distanced to their specific table by grade level.
Students will be required to get permission before leaving the table.
Student temperatures checks will be repeated.

Recess/Playground
Limited to 3 grades at a time with designated areas to play in.
During inclement weather students will have recess in their classroom.

Music
Music will be music appreciation and will be held in the music room.
There will be no concerts in Semester 1 and no singing in class.

PE
Will be held outside, weather permitting as much as possible.

Library
Same as before, please signup for class time on staff drive.

Computers
No computer class.
Computer labs will be closed.
Each student will be assigned their own personal device (iPad/Chromebook).

Bathroom Breaks
There will be a schedule on the staff share drive to build in classroom bathroom and drink breaks (fountains will not be used, but water bottles could be filled) to help with social distancing.

Sick Student Procedure
Student will be given a mask and sent to the sick chair outside of the office.
The office needs to be notified of the sick student coming.
The office will recheck and question the student.
If it’s determined the child needs to be sent home they will be isolated in the sick room.
Before the student can return, they must be symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours unmedicated.
 

DISMISSAL/AFTER SCHOOL

Staggered dismissal

3:20 K & 1
3:25 2 & 4
3:30 3 & 5

Students will be required to leave the building unless an appointment has been made with a teacher.
