PHOTO OF THE DAY: EXPERT ADVICE
Freeman Superintendent Kevin Kunz asks a question of Dr. Shakil Hafiz at a special meeting of the Freeman School Board Wednesday night, Aug. 19. Hafiz was invited to share medical information and advice about ways to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 as part of a larger discussion about the district’s plan to deal with spectator sports. After more than two hours of discussion, the board agreed to acknowledge an action plan that includes the following provisions:
• Masks are highly encouraged, but not required
• For volleyball, each rostered participant will be give a certain number of date-specific vouchers to be distributed for each match
• The visiting school’s AD will be mailed the same number of vouchers for their team
• All Freeman High School students in grades 9-12, as well as opposing high school students, will be allowed to attend a match
• The matches will be closed to non-students and those who do not possess a voucher
• There will be no limitations for spectators attending football games or cross-country meets, although children are expected to sit with their parents and/or guardian during the game
• No admission will be charged for fall activities and the concession stand will be open, with safety guidelines in place
