WOLVES RETURN TO VB ACTION, DROP TWO

In their first matches since early September, when a close contact to a COVID-19 positive put a temporary hold on the season, the Menno volleyball team was back in action early this week in matches against Ethan Monday, Sept. 14 and Howard Tuesday, Sept. 15. The Wolves lost both, falling to the Rustlers 3-1 and the Tigers 3-2 and dropping their season record to 1-3.

Ethan

At Ethan (3-2) on Monday, Menno lost 25-21, 9-25, 19-25, 17-25. Raygen Diede led the way with five kills while Jesse Munkvold and Madelyn Heckenlaible each had four kills and three blocks. Kylie Harriman posted 10 set assists and a pair of aces while Kaylie Schempp led the team with 15 digs. Munkvold also had 14 digs.

Howard

Then at home on Tuesday against Howard (5-2), the Wolves lost 23-25, 26-24, 12-25, 25-19, 12-15, Munkvold had a big game with 14 kills, 31 digs and three aces. Julia Buechler had six kills while Madelyn Heckenlaible, Bridget Vaith and Adrian Nusz had four kills apiece. Heckenlaible and Vaith each had five blocks while Kylie Harriman had 22 set assists and contributed 16 digs. Kaylie Schempp had 22 digs.

The Wolves play in Emery on Sept. 19 on Saturday and return home against No. 3-ranked Bridgewater-Emery Monday, Sept. 21.
