PRIDE ROUTE EAGLES 50-0

Senior standout Tyce Ortman threw for two touchdowns, rushed for a pair of others and returned a punt 65 yards for Canistota/Freeman’s fifth touchdown of the night as the Pride routed Irene-Wakonda 50-0 in Irene Friday night, Sept. 18.

The win moved No. 2 Canistota/Freeman to 4-1 while the Eagles dropped to 0-5.

The Pride’s touchdowns came on a 45-yard pass from Ortman to Noah Kleinsasser, a 39-yard run by Ortman, a 21-yard pass from Ortman to Logan Katzer, an 18-yard run by Ortman, a 65-yard punt return by Ortman, a 44-yard run by Isiah Robertson and a 7-yard run by Noah Kleinsasser in the third period that ended the game by the mercy rule.

Canistota/Freeman got a pair of two-point conversions from Robertson, one from Collin Helma and another on a pass from Tage Ortman to Tyson Roth.

The Pride, who weren’t penalized once, racked up 228 yards of offense on 27 plays while holding Irene-Wakonda to just 86 total yards — only five of which were on the ground. Canistota/Freeman’s defense forced two fumbles and picked off four passes.

Blake Anderson led the defense with three solo tackles, including a tackle for a loss, and was in on another.
