ORTMANS LEAD PRIDE TO 58-7 WIN OVER CASTLEWOOD

Canistota/Freeman had no trouble improving to 5-1 in Castlewood Friday night, Oct. 2, downing the Warriors (2-4) 58-7. The game would have been over at halftime by the 50-point mercy rule, but Castlewood took advantage of a Pride turnover and scored a touchdown midway through the second period; the score at halftime was 50-7.

Tyce Ortman rushed for a pair of touchdowns and threw for two others while Isiah Robertson, Blake Anderson and Cayden Scott each ran for a score. Collin Helma and Logan Katzer each caught touchdown passes from Ortman, and Tage Ortman threw to Will Ortman for the final score of the night, ending the game early in the fourth quarter.

Canistota/Freeman tallied 270 yards on the ground and 73 through the air and dominated the time of possession, owning the ball for 31 minutes and 21 seconds. The Pride had 22 first downs.

Castlewood, meanwhile, had just four first downs and possessed the ball for just 16 minutes. The Pride defense held the Warriors to 89 total yards.

In addition to leading the offense, Tyce Ortman led the defense, as well, posting six solo tackles and getting in on two others. Trace Ortman had three solo tackles and Tye Merrill, Scott, Helma, Katzer and Cole Papendick each had two.

Canistota/Freeman hosts Bon Homme in Freeman Friday, Oct. 9.
