MUNKVOLD, HECKENLAIBLE REIGN

Big Friday on tap in Menno with pep rally, parade and football game

Menno seniors Josh Heckenlaible and Jesse Munkvold were crowned king and queen as Menno Public School and the larger community kicked off a week of homecoming activities at coronation Monday night, Oct. 12. Heckenlaible and Munkvold were joined by a royal court that also included candidates Brady Fergen, Levi Bender, Kylie Harriman and Morgan Edelman.

Homecoming this year is falling under the theme of “The Wolves will stun in 2021” and will conclude Friday, Oct. 16 with a number of activities. A pep rally will be held at 1 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium followed by a parade at 1:30 p.m. with the theme, “Roadtrip.” Friday night, the Menno/Marion football team will host Irene-Wakonda in the regular-season finale at the Menno football field.

There will not be a homecoming dance this year.

Menno students competed or were scheduled to compete in a number of other athletic events, including a football game Monday afternoon, volleyball on the road Tuesday and at home on Thursday — and again at home on Saturday — as well as Region 3B cross-country in Platte on Wednesday.
