FLYERS WIN AGAIN FOR NINTH STRAIGHT
Freeman Public will go into the region tournament riding a nine-match winning streak. The Flyers haven’t lost since Sept. 26 when they dropped two matches at the Pentagon in Sioux Falls and finished off their regular season with a 3-1 victory over Alcester-Hudson in Alcester Tuesday night, Oct. 27.
The Flyers got the win behind 16 kills, three blocks, three aces and 27 digs from senior Rijy Peterson.
Freeman played well as a team defensively with multiple players contributing in the digs department. In addition to Peterson’s team-high 27, Oddy Pankratz had 26, Kate Miller 25, Lily Wipf 22, Cara Makse 20, Erin Uecker 18 and Ava Ammann 14. Maske added 30 set assists, Miller had seven kills and Uecker and Mesa Mehlhaf each had five.
Freeman will host a Region 5B match Tuesday, Oct. 3.
