Cheryl Duerksen: 1963-2020

Cheryl Duerksen, age 57, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion, S.D. A private service will be held at a later date.

Cheryl Annette Hagemann was born on April 6, 1963 to Harvey and Caroline (Riedel) Hagemann in Madison, S.D. Cheryl was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stickney, S.D. Cheryl graduated from Marion High School in May 1981. During high school, Cheryl was very active in basketball, track and cheerleading.

On September 4, 1982, Cheryl was united in marriage to Myron Lee Luke. Following the death of Myron, Cheryl remained in Marion and welcomed their daughter, Leigh. On Sept. 26, 1987, Cheryl was united in marriage to Bruce Allen Duerksen. 

Cheryl was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Marion. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with family and listening to music.

She was survived by her daughter, Leigh Scott and her grandsons, Mason and Aiden; her sisters, JoLynn LaPorte of Marion, Jill (Larry) Hopf of Marion; her brother, Robert Hagemann of Parker, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Myron Luke; parents, Harvey and Caroline Hagemann; and brother, Michael Hagemann.
