CITY ACCEPTS VAN NINGEN RESIGNATION

The Freeman City Council voted Monday night, March 17 to accept the resignation of city finance officer Adam Van Ningen and to name administrative assistant Lisa Jensen as temporary city finance officer and Lisa Edelman as temporary deputy finance officer.

Freeman Mayor Michael Walter informed the city council at the start of the meeting that the city has been without a finance officer since Friday, March 5.

Wednesday’s action came after an hour in closed session.

Edelman is the finance officer for the city of Menno and a former city finance officer for the city of Freeman. Van Ningen had been the Freeman City Finance Officer since 2016.
