Sherri Sherard: 1961-2021

Sherri Sherard, 59, died Sunday, April 11th, 2021 in Chamberlain, S.D. A funeral was held on Thursday, April 15 at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Marion, S.D., with arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.

Sherri Lynn Sherard was born on Sept. 14, 1961, to Lee and Darlene (Bunger) Schriever. She grew up on the family farm near Hurley, S.D., and graduated from Lennox High School. Sherri attended SDSU and Augustana College graduating with a BA in art education and an MA in special education. On June 13, 1981, she married Bart Sherard. Together, they loved and raised three children, Jessica, Brent and Derek on their farm in rural Parker, S.D.

Sherri spent her career teaching art for the Sioux Falls School District. She also enjoyed teaching painting classes and custom framing art. Sherri loved traveling and camping with the kids, watching them participate in sports and seeing their musical performances. Later in life, she enjoyed the same things with her grandchildren. Sherri and Bart enjoyed spending their free time during the summer fishing, mostly in South Dakota and North Dakota.

Sherri was an active member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher and youth director over the years. Having a church family who emanated the true love of Christ was very important to her.

Sherri is survived by her treasured children: Jessica and John Pickett of Mitchell, S.D., Brent and Brooke Sherard of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Derek and Shelby Sherard of Marion; and grandchildren: Colin and Trinity Pickett, Kya, Kysen, Kinzi, and Korbin Sherard and Ada Sherard. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Bart Sherard.
