PHOTO OF THE DAY: THE RIGHT APPROACH
Freeman High School senior Oddy Pankratz approaches the bar in the high jump at the Flyer Invitational hosted by Freeman Public Schools Thursday afternoon, April 22. Pankratz finished second in the event with a height of 4-10 to help lead the Flyers to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. It was a busy day for track and field athletes from 16 area schools, and local athletes did well. The FA/Marion boys fell seven points short of winning the meet while the Menno girls were third. The Menno and Freeman boys both finished in the top half of the team standings at fifth- and sixth-place finish while the Freeman Academy placed ninth.
Highlighting the day for Freeman Public was the boys 400-meter relay team of Evan Scharberg, Collin Helma, Tate Sorensen and Justin Wollman, who set the meet record with a 45.76 clocking.
