FLYERS INVITE: BEARCAT BOYS FINISH 2ND

Freeman Academy/Marion’s distance runners carried the boys to a runner-up finish at the Flyer Invitational hosted by Freeman Public on a cool afternoon and evening last week. The Bearcats had three medalists in both the 1600 and 3200 and the 3200-meter relay finished second as FA/Marion scored 91 points at the April 22 meet — just six points behind winner Hanson.

Senior Titus Roesler again led the charge with a win in the 3200 and a second-place finish in the 1600; he also anchored the 3200 relay. Roesler’s time of 10:02.19 in the 3200 set a new meet record; the record of 10:27.88 had been set by Freeman Academy’s Thaniel Schroeder in 2016.

Sophomore Jada Koerner was the top finisher for the girls, winning the 1600 and anchoring the 1600-meter relay to a win — a foursome that also included Alivea Weber, Zenovia Butler and Estelle Waltner.
