LETTER: NONE OF MY BUSINESS, BUT …

We live in the country and not the fine city of Freeman, so I’m kind of butting in here. I see you are considering an ordinance regarding parking of vehicles on lawns. Since I live in the country, I don’t quite get it, but would have you consider one issue. I have spoken with friends who do live in Freeman and heard their frustrations with snow plowing.

Nobody likes their car being plowed in along the curb. It is a hassle for the city as well. If residents are not allowed to park their cars on their lawns, what are they to do? Freeman has many fine homes with multiple garages and spacious driveways. It also has lower quality homes with little or no garage or driveway space. Should the city deem it best to enact a lawn parking ordinance, I suggest they allow for parking of cars on lawns in winter. A winter exception to the ordinance would show consideration for those less fortunate, expedite snow plowing, and do little or no damage to lawns.

Respectfully,

Les Rensink

Freeman
