PHOTO OF THE DAY: OLD SCHOOL

Mrs. Lynelle Hofer and her kindergarten class at Freeman Academy finish an assignment inside the historic Diamond Valley Schoolhouse located on the campus of Heritage Hall Museum & Archives, just south of Freeman Academy. The class spent some time in the old school building Monday afternoon, May 24 to learn about what school was like generations ago and to see what it was like to complete an assignment in a surrounding unlike what they are used to in their classroom inside Music Hall. Diamond Valley was originally located about a mile south of Freeman on U.S. Highway 81 and was in operation from 1902 until 1969, when many country schools closed because of reorganization.
