PHOTO OF THE DAY: TRAIN STOP
This undated photo shows the Freeman Depot as it stood decades ago, when rail service was a central part of the Freeman community. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railway Company built the station after establishing a line from Marion to Running Water in 1879, with the first train pulling into Freeman the fall of that year. The final train came through Freeman in 1978, just shy of 100 years later.
