Ethan Balvin looks for a hole early on in Canistota/Freeman’s game against Elkton-Lake Benton in Freeman Friday night, Aug. 27. The Freeman junior found a hole — and the end zone — twice in Friday night’s action, first from 10 yards out to put the Pride up 6-0 and then from 20 yards out to help them extend their lead to 14-6. Balvin finished with 71 yards on 11 carries and Class 9AA No. 2 Canistota/Freeman ran away with a 48-18 win over the Elks to improve to 1-1.

Also Friday night, the Jim River Trappers improved to 2-0 with a 21-0 win over Baltic.
