Those participating in the girls varsity race at the Flyer Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 15, are off and running at Valley View Golf Course. Local runners pictured are Menno’s Ashton Massey, right of center, and Freeman Public’s Peyton McCune and Rylee Peters, far right. Massey finished sixth among the 62 runners taking part, while Peters and McCune were 12th and 14th. Freeman Academy/Marion’s Jada Koerner won the girls varsity race. In the boys varsity division, Freeman Academy/Marion won the team title behind a third-place finish from Tavin Schroeder and an eight-place finish by Malachi Myers; the Bearcats edged Kimball/White Lake 25 to 28 in the standings. The Flyer Invitational was a big one, with 24 teams and 298 runners taking part in the varsity, junior varsity and middle school races.
