MENNO STUDENTS TO PRESENT ‘BEFORE WE GO’ ON MONDAY

The Menno One-Act Play cast and crew will next week present “Before We Go” by Dennis Bush and produced under special arrangement with Brooklyn Publishers, LLC. The home performance will be held in the city/school auditorium on Monday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Through vignettes and monologues, characters introduce themselves as they grow up, face embarrassing addictions or feel like they will spontaneously combust at any given second. These journeys through rites of passages and challenges to survive this thing we call life touch us all.

The cast and crew consist of (seniors) Salome Carr, Isabella Hogeland, Kaelea McCoy and Bridget Vaith; (juniors) Julia Buechler, Chandler Dant, Alex Fischer, Sophia Hogan, Hayden McNinch, Brooklyn Mettler, Chloe Sluzevich and Josephine Stokes; (sophomores) Kaelie Derby, Alexis Hogeland, Ashton Massey and Maggie Miller; and (freshmen) Samantha Allvin, Joslynn Fischer, Haylee Hall, Jaxen Mettler and William Stokes. The play is under the direction of Betsy Knodel, Martin Sieverding and Jason Mehlhaf.

The play will also be presented on Jan. 26 at Sioux Falls Lutheran High School at 3:15 p.m. The contest judges are: Matthew Nesmith (USD), Brittany Hanson (USF) and Dan Miller (DWU). Other schools performing at the Region 1B contest include Sioux Falls Lutheran, Freeman, Centerville, Bridgewater/Emery, Freeman Academy and Irene/Wakonda.

The show is directed by Iwona Letwer and features a cast made up of Lily Wipf, Thor Aanenson, Kate Miller, Trevor Mulholland and Paige Auch, with Dakota Hofer on lights and sound.

Freeman Academy is presenting an abridged version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby,” adapted for the stage by Simon Levy.
