PHOTO OF THE DAY: GROWING WITH GROWING DREAMS
This is the entrance to Growing Dreams Learning Center, which since 2019 has been operating out of the east wing of the Freeman Elementary School building. But the daycare/preschool is facing an uncertain future in terms of location because Freeman Public Schools wants to reconfigure its elementary footprint to accommodate growing enrollment. Meeting in regular session Monday night, Feb. 14, the Freeman School Board heard a request from Growing Dreams to allow them to stay put for one more year, which would give them ample time to plan for the future. The board ultimately voted in favor of the request by accepting a new floor plan that will allow Growing Dreams to remain in its location through July of 2023, but also address the district’s own needs. That is, to split its two largest classes — next year’s first and second graders — and also return the sixth graders to the elementary side.
