FHS TRACK: GIRLS WIN IN SALEM

Competing in their first meet of this weather-delayed season, the Freeman High School girls came away with a team victory at the Jack Rasmussen Relays in Salem on Tuesday, April 12, edging Garretson 105 to 98 in the final standings.

The Flyers had an individual champion in freshman Emily Mendel competing in the triple jump and the girls 400 and 3200 relays both ran to victory.

For the boys, Dawson Munkvold won both the 110 and 300 hurdles and the boys won the 800 relay en route to a third place finish in the team standings.

Here are all of Freeman’s place-winners from Salem.

GIRLS

100 – Zenovia Butler 4th, 12.99

400 – Kate Miller 5th, 1:08.34

800 – Peyton McCune 2nd, 2:57.24; Rylie Gossen 3rd, 2:58.73

1600 – Claire Loofbourrow 2nd, 6:57.38

300 hurdles – Cadence Hofer 3rd, 55.47; Vaida Ammann 4th, 56.96; Erin Uecker 5th, 57.27

400 relay (Makenzie Scharberg, Butler, Miller, Rylee Peters) – 1st, 53.50

800 relay (Korie Ortmanm, Ryleigh Dent, Jazzy Tschetter, Rylee Law) – 4th, 2:14.65

3200 relay (McCune, Loofbourrow, Savanna Timmerman, Gossen) – 1st, 12:15.38

Long jump – Scharberg 5th, 11-5; Ortman 6th, 11-0; Tschetter 7th, 8-5

Triple jump – Emily Mendel 1st, 31-1 ½; Rylee Law 4th, 20-0

Shot put – Justice Mehlhaf 5th, 29-4 ½

Discus – Mehlhaf 5th, 84-6; Ella Waltner 8th, 73-9
