WALTNER WINS RE-ELECTION; FREIER TO JOIN MENNO SCHOOL BOARD
Steve (Charly) Waltner will serve another term on the Freeman City Council after winning re-election over challenger Terry Waterman in the Ward 2 election on Tuesday, April 12. Waltner received 38 votes to Waterman’s 26 in a race that generated 22% voter turnout.
In Menno, Tim Freier will join the Menno School Board of Education after winning a two-year term over Molly Huber while Barry Schmidt and Brent Rames will both return for another three-year term following the election Tuesday, April 12.
Freier defeated Huber 102 to 79 and will in July assume the seat occupied by Jill Haberman, who chose not to seek re-election.
In the race for two three-year terms, Schmidt drew 142 votes and Rames 113, while challenger Kathleen Wollmann won 73 votes.
Votes cast were 184.
