FAM BOYS FINISH 3RD; THE STATE-MEET RUNDOWN

For the Freeman Academy/Marion boys track team, the 2022 State Track Meet started and ended just about as well as could be imagined.

The Bearcats opened the three-day event at Howard Wood Field on Thursday morning, May 26 with a win in 4×800 relay and, when it was all over on Saturday afternoon, walked away with third place team finish in the Class B division. FAM finished with 42 points; Ipswich was second with 45 and Chester Area ran away with the team title by scoring 86 points.

For Freeman Academy/Marion, the hours in-between that great start and somewhat surprising finish produced a host of outstanding performances that included a runner-up finish in the medley relay.

And it wasn’t just the Bearcat boys who did well. A number of other student-athletes from FA/Marion, Freeman Public and Menno turned in medal-winning performances, including a pair of third-place finishes from Freeman Public seventh grader Rylee Peters and three individual medals earned by Menno sophomore Ashton Massey.
