FREEMAN SCHOOL BOARD REORGANIZES

Freeman School Board reorganizes

Spangler, Podzimek are in; Maske resigns from other coaching positions

– PUBLISHER

Cody Spangler and Karissa Podzimek joined the Freeman School Board of education, Emily Andersen was re-elected board chair and Cody Fransen was named vice-chair as the Freeman School Board reorganized for the new fiscal year in regular session Monday night, July 11.

Spangler and Podzimek were unopposed in their bid for election to the board and replace Slade Ammann and Kyle Weier, who chose not to seek re-election.

Doug McCune is the other member of the five-member board.

Monday’s meeting included a host of re-organizational formalities, like setting lunch and activity admission prices and declaring the legal publication and depositories; watch for those details in the minutes of the July 11 meeting that will be published next week.

Also Monday, the board accepted the resignation of Chris Maske as head cross-country and assistant girls basketball coach; Maske had earlier this year also resigned as head track coach. Those are among a number of coaching positions that will need to be filled in advance of the 2022-23 school year. The full list is as follows:

Full-time custodian (to replace Gregg Uecker)

Head cross-country coach (Maske)

Junior high girls basketball coach (Kristina Sage)

Assistant girls basketball coach (Maske)

Junior high boys basketball coach (Matt Brinkman)

Assistant boys basketball coach (Brinkman)

Head track coach (Maske)

Assistant track coach (Avery Sage)
