PHOTO OF THE DAY: AND THE WINNERS ARE …
Terry Waterman, Sam Sorensen and Joyce Hofer work together to announce the winners of the Freeman Lions Club raffle fundraiser Wednesday evening, Aug. 17. It was part of the commemorative opening ceremony of the Freeman Disc Golf Course that opened last month on the southern portion of the Prairie Arboretum. The 9-hole course was a project of the local Lions Club and was built for the community to enjoy. “This is not the Lions Club’s course,” Sorensen said in remarks on Wednesday. “This is the arboretum’s course. This is Freeman’s course. This is for everybody.”
Sorensen also noted the health state of the Freeman Lions Club, with is currently 41 members strong. “We are doing something right because we are very active,” he said. “You’re going to see some big projects in the future.”
Wednesday’s opening ceremony included a free hot dog meal, a chance to purchase raffle tickets prior to the drawing and an opportunity to fellowship on a beautiful summer evening near the first hole of the course.
