Evelyn Rae Johnson: July 27-Aug. 16, 2022

Evelyn Rae Johnson was born to Stefanie and Taylor Johnson on July 27, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. She weighed only 11.3 oz., but was precious and perfect in every way. Everyone loved her beautiful button nose, tiny fingers and toes and soft blond hair.

She amazed her family, the doctors, and nurses every day with her strength and feisty personality. She hated diaper changes and getting her temperature checked but she loved her pacifier, holding hands and touches from Mom and Dad.

She fought fiercely every day to live and overcame so many obstacles. She was dearly loved by many and made an impact on everyone who got to meet her or hear her story.

She passed away peacefully in her parents’ arms, surrounded by loved ones, on Aug. 16, 2022. Evelyn fought bravely for 20 days and will be deeply missed by all those who love her.

Grandparents are Scott and Susan Ruml, Freeman, S.D.; and Dee and Amy Johnson, Crofton, Neb. Evelyn’s memorial service took place at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls on Friday, Aug. 19.

Card of thanks

We would like to express our deep gratitude to everyone that reached out to us during this incredibly difficult time. The kindness of adding our sweet girl to your prayer chains, the cards, the messages and phone calls were very much appreciated.

Scott and Susan Ruml
