Ranae K. Erickson: 1970-2022

Ranae K. Erickson, 52, of Sioux Falls, S.D., passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Trinity Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. 

Ranae Koerner was born March 14, 1970 in Freeman, S.D. to Myron and Edna (Jerke) Koerner. She grew up in Freeman was baptized and confirmed at Zion Reformed Church. She graduated from Freeman High School before going on to Huron College and earning an associate’s degree. On April 13, 1991 she married Kevin Erickson and they were blessed with two daughters, Amanda and Megan. 

Ranae loved working with children and touched many lives in her years doing daycare and working at the school in Montrose, S.D. She then worked for Vance Thompson Vision for a few years before her health forced retirement. She also really enjoyed stamping.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin, of Sioux Falls; daughters, Amanda (Hayden) Erickson and Megan Erickson of Sioux Falls; parents, Myron and Edna Koerner of Freeman; and brothers, Ronald (Jodi) Koerner and their children, Ellie, Jenna and Evan of Brookings, S.D., and Reed Koerner of Volga, S.D. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be distributed to Ranae’s favorite charities.
