FREEMAN GIRLS TAKE DOWN CANISTOTA

The Freeman Public girls won their fourth game in a row and ninth in their last 11 with an easy Cornbelt Conference win over Canistota in Freeman Thursday night, Jan. 26. The Flyers beat the Hawks 61-43 to improve to 9-5; Canistota dropped to 2-10.

Freeman led 17-13 after the first quarter and 34-25 at the half before outscoring Canistota 27-18 the rest of the way.

Senior Kate Miller had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds and added three steals and a pair of blocked shots. Senor Erin Uecker also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and also dished out three assists. Ashlin Jacobsen tallied 13 points and Peyton McCune and Rylee Peters both had three steals.

Freeman shot 54% from the field but just 42% from the line. The Flyers outrebounded the Hawks 35-26.

Freeman travels to Scotland (8-6) Tuesday night.
