SENIOR BANNER SPONSORSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE

Businesses, organizations, groups and individuals who would like to help support the Class of 2023 from Freeman Academy, Freeman Public and Menno may do so by sponsoring a graduate in another banner salute that will begin in May and continue through June. Fifty-seven seniors from the three schools — and their sponsors — will be highlighted on banners displayed on Sixth Street in Freeeman and on Fifth Street in Menno.

Seniors are sponsored on a first-come, first-served basis, and more than half of this year’s collective class has been spoken for. Those who would like to support a remaining graduate in an acknowledgement of their accomplishments — whether you know them or not — should call 605-925-7033, text 605-351-6097 or email courier@gwtc.net. Up-to-date information on who is left, and cost of the sponsorship, will be made available then.

“We started this project three years ago as a tribute to the Class of 2020 that was unfairly dealing with the sudden reality of a  pandemic,” says Courier Publisher Jeremy Waltner. “Now, we recognize the real value — that these gradutes are our future leaders and our greatest untapped resource. It’s one of many ways that Covid-19 has reminded us what is truly important in an otherwise complicated world.”

The deadline to sponsor a senior is Tuesday, April 18.
