BREWER RESIGNS AS FREEMAN CHIEF OF POLICE

The city of Freeman is once again looking for a chief of police.

Meeting in regular session Tuesday night, May 2, the Freeman City Council accepted the resignation of Scott Brewer, who has been Freeman Police Chief since February of 2021, and voted to advertise for his replacement.

His resignation is effect June 1.

Brewer, who lives Freeman with his family, said he will remain in the community and is going to work as a deputy with the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s office beginning June 5.

Prior to Brewer, the local law enforcement agency was headed by Kirk McCormick and by Richard Cummings before that.

Jay Slevin has worked as an officer under all three chiefs since 2014 and remains on staff with the Freeman Police Department.
