NEW: STICKS, TRAPPERS QUALIFY FOR REGION 1B TOURNAMENT

The Canistota/Freeman/Marion Sticks and Scotland/Menno Trappers have both finished in the top eight in the 12-team Region 1B standings and have therefore qualified for the region tournament this Sunday.

The Sticks (5-6) are No. 7 and will face No. 2 Dakota Valley (10-1) at 2 p.m. at Dakota Valley (North Sioux City).

The Trappers (7-4) are No. 4 and will play No. 5 Ethan/Parkston/Tripp (7-4) at 3 p.m. in Tyndall. 

The winners will play again that evening at their respective locations for a spot in the state tournament, which will be played at Sioux Falls Stadium May 29 and 30.

The other Region 1B games feature No. 1 Bon Homme/Avon (11-0) vs. No. 8 Wagner/Lake Andes (5-6) in Tyndall at 1 p.m. and No. 3 Elk Point-Jefferson (8-3) vs. No. 6 Vermillion (5-6) at Dakota Valley at 4 p.m.
