Lindell Jensen: 1965-2023

Lindell Jay Jensen, 58, of Freeman, passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at Avera Sacred Hospital in Yankton, after a hard fought battle with cancer.  Lindell was born February 23, 1965 into the family of Eldon and Elsie Jensen.  He was the fifth child in a family of seven; Kevin Jensen, Vernell Jensen, Brenda Jensen, Joette (Jensen) Peterson, Keith Jensen, and Roxanne (Jensen) Hancock.

He wasn’t afraid of anything.  If a wild horse needed to be caught, and jumping off the back of a pickup was the only way to catch it, then that’s what he did.  If a crazy cow needed to be untangled from the lasso wrapped around a post, then he was the bait to get her to run back around the post.

Lindell married Lisa Smith in 1990 and together they had two children, Austin and Sydney.  He was a protective, encouraging, and supportive
father.  In time, Lindell became a grandfather to Emmett and Sofia.  He later got remarried to Andrea Jensen, where they lived out his last years on his farm south of Freeman.

He was very close to his siblings.  The more time he spent with them the better.  Family was extremely important to him.  Having his children at his side, working together, which he loved, filled him with so much love and pride.

Lindell never backed down from a challenge, especially when it involved hard work.  Instead, he was encouraged by it and relished in it.  He was dedicated to whatever job he had and put his all into every task he completed.  As a result, he became successful in many aspects of life, including several small business ventures.

Lindell was always willing to help others.  When a friend or neighbor needed something, he would set aside his own plans, to lend a helping hand.

Lindell had many great qualities, although timing probably wasn’t one of them.  He was told once by a friend waiting for him,  “I’m glad I wasn’t waiting underwater.” However, his best quality was his faithfulness to the Lord.  He was baptized into the Seventh-Day-Adventist church in November 1997.  Like his work, he was dedicated and faithful and gave 110% to Jesus.  It is because of his love and dedication to our Lord, that many people will be in Heaven and we will all meet again, at the feet of Jesus.

Lindell is survived by his loving family; wife, Andrea Jensen, son, Austin Jensen (Ashley), grandchildren, Emmett and Sofia, daughter, Sydney Jensen, mother, Elsie Jensen, and six siblings.  He is preceded in death by his father, Eldon Jensen.
