AMATEUR BASEBALL: LESTERVILLE ELIMINATES MENNO
Menno’s postseason mojo ran out Monday night in Mitchell as South Central League foe Lesterville toppled the Mad Frogs 14-1 in the second round of the State Amateur Baseball Tournament at Cadwell Park. Menno had advanced through the postseason by winning twice in District 6 play and then taking down Northville in the first round of the state tournament last week, but the Broncs were too tough on Monday.
Menno’s lone run came in the bottom of the first when Dylan Lehr scored on a sacrifice fly by Spencer Schultz. Lesterville responded with one of its own in the second inning and then piled it on late, plating two in the fourth, six in the fifth and another five in the sixth. The Broncs outhit the Mad Frogs 15 to 4 and played a clean game in the field while Menno committed six errors. Lehr, pickup player Jake Weier, Dustin Livingston and Macon Oplinger each singled for the Frogs.
