PHOTO OF THE DAY: BACK IN TIME

This photo from freemansdhistoy.com shows Palace Bowl, presumably not long after it opened in 1961. Owned and operated by Orville Ellwein, the 8-lane Freeman blowing ally was located just off Sixth Street and enjoyed its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s before slowing down in the years that followed. The building sat empty for years before it was purchased by Troy Herlyn and Specialty Automotive and converted into new working space for him.
