MENNO HOMECOMING: ‘DISNEY’ ON DISPLAY

A Disney-themed set of days under the slogan “Make Your Dreams Come True” will be arriving in Menno next week when the school and community celebrates homecoming. Things will get off to their formal start Monday evening, Sept. 11 with coronation inside the city/school auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m. (The monthly school board meeting will take place prior to coronation starting at 6 p.m.)

The senior theme for coronation is “The Wolves will Bust Down the Door in 2024.”

Standing for homecoming king will be Seth Ahalt, Isaac Fergen and Aiden Heckenlaible, while the candidates for queen are Kaelie Derby, Ashton Massey and Maggie Miller.

While activities are planned throughout the week, Friday, Sept. 15 will be the big day. A community parade will begin at 10:45 a.m., with the following float themes:

Grade 6: Toy Story

Grade 7: Monster’s Inc.

Grade 8: 101 Dalmatians

Grade 9: Tarzan

Grade 10: Little Mermaid

Grade 11: Lilo and Stitch

The senior class does not have its own float.

All local businesses and organizations are welcome to create a float and participate in the parade, as well.

No political content will be allowed on any school or community float. Contact Shelby Sherard with any questions by emailing Shelby.sherard@k12.sd.us.
