This photo shows Lion’s Park located one block west of the 300 block of Main Street in Freeman. This was the location of Freeman Public School from 1900 until October of 1923, when a fire destroyed what was a distinctive school building. As we near the 100-year anniversary of that school-changing — and potentially community-changing — fire, watch for a look back in upcoming issues of The Courier.
