Lucille Preheim, 93

Lucille Preheim, 93, of Freeman, S.D., passed away on Dec. 19 at Oakview Terrace. A visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Walter Funeral Home in Freeman. A graveside service was held Saturday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Freeman City Cemetery.

Lucille Preheim was born to John and Lydia Stucky on Sept. 2nd, 1930. She received most of her early education at a school near McPherson, Kansas. She moved with her family to a farm near Freeman in 1944. On her first day of school there she unexpectedly had to take her eighth grade final exam. Nerves were running high, but she took it and passed!

She then went to Freeman Academy and Freeman Junior College, where she got a teaching certificate. She then taught country school for two years.

On Sept. 28, 1959 she married Jasper Preheim. To this couple two children were born, Kathleen and Kenneth. She spent her remaining years caring for her family. She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking, flowers, gardening, and reading her Bible.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents John and Lydia, husband Jasper, daughter Kathleen, sister Mildred, brothers; Herman, Eldon, Weldon, and Eugene.

She is survived by her son Kenneth.
