Roger was born in Freeman, South Dakota on Dec. 13, 1948 to Edwin and Leatrice (Mettler) Aman. He graduated from Freeman High School in 1967. While in high school, Roger met Marlys Ann Zanter and they were united in marriage on June 25, 1968 at Unity Lutheran Church. They were married for 55 years and were blessed with a daughter, Michelle; a son-in-law, David; and a grandson, Cole.

He enjoyed his 45-year career with Golden West Telecommunications Company and the many people he mentored and met. Throughout his life, Roger enjoyed playing baseball for the Freeman Town Team, golfing with friends, and watching the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. He gave back to his community as a volunteer fireman and school board member for many years.

Roger kept the Lord close to his heart and was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and member of the choir.

After retiring, Roger enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He treasured the wonderful memories from their trips to Germany, the Holy Land, Portugal, northern Minnesota, and many other beautiful places. He also took great pride in watching his grandson’s sporting events.

He will be remembered for his enjoyment of life, his quick wit and humor, and his ability to strike up a conversation with all.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlys; his cherished daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and David Bruhn; and his adored grandson, Cole Bruhn. Roger will also be missed by his sister and brother-in-law, LaVonne and Ray Schulz; his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Dale and Deb Aman, Charles Aman, and Michael and Shari Aman; his sister-in-law, Bernetta Zanter; as well as his nieces, nephews, other special relatives, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Loren Aman; his parents-in-law, Albert and Charlotte Zanter; and his brother-in-law, Leland Zanter.
