FREEMAN GIRLS MOVE TO 8-2 WITH WIN OVER WHITE RIVER

The Freeman Public girls survived 22 turnovers — and a late rally by White River — to come away with a 58-47 win Saturday night at the Blizzard Bustard Classic hosted by Irene-Wakonda in Irene. The Flyers improved to 8-2 with the win while the Lady Braves dropped to 7-3.

Freeman led 23-9 after the first quarter, 33-22 at the half and 44-37 after three quarters before White River cut the lead to 44-41 with under six minutes to play. But the Flyers outscored the Lady Braves 14-6 the rest of the way to pick up the victory.

Junior Peyton McCune led all scorers with 20 points and senior Ashlyn Jacobsen added 14 points for Freeman, which takes the court again Monday against Parker (0-7) in a home doubleheader with the boys.
