FHS BOYS BEAT PARKER FOR 5TH-STRAIGHT WIN

After starting the season 1-3, the Freeman Public boys won their fifth in a row on Monday night, taking down Class A Parker 47-41 in Freeman. Until the fourth quarter, the largest lead for either team was four points, with the Flyers going up 41-36 midway through the final period and hitting several key shots down the stretch to claim the six-point win.

Freeman improved to 6-3 while the Pheasants dropped to 4-6.

Sophomore Tate Sorensen’s 13 points and nine rebounds paced the Flyers while eighth grader David Walter added 11 points. Senior Rocky Ammann had three assists, five steals and two blocked shots, and junior Sawyer Wipf added seven rebounds and three steals for Freeman, which trailed 12-10 after the first quarter and led 21-20 at the half. The game was tied 34-34 after three quarters.

Freeman travels to Avon (1-6) on Friday.

FHS GIRLS 65, PARKER 34

Senior Ashlin Jacobsen scored 20 points and had five assists and freshman Rylee Peters netted 12 points and had nine rebounds, six assists and four steals as the Freeman Public girls improved to 9-2 with a 65-34 win over Parker Monday night. The Pheasants dropped to 0-9.

Sophomore Vaida Ammann added nine rebounds, and senior Cami Fransen and junior Peyton McCune both had three steals.

The Freeman girls travel to Canistota (5-6) Thursday night.
