MENNO BOYS PICK UP FIRST WIN

The boys basketball team from Menno picked up its first win of the season with a 42-38 victory over Irene-Wakonda in Irene Friday night, Feb. 2. The game was close the entire way, with the Eagles leading 13-12 after the first quarter, the Wolves ahead 29-26 at the half and the game tied at 33 after three periods.

Menno now stands at 1-13 while Irene-Wakonda dropped to 1-14 — its only win coming against Scotland, which is also 1-14.

Erick Buechler led the Wolves with 14 points and Izayah Ulmer had 11 in Menno’s Friday night victory.Buechler added eight rebounds and Ulmer had three steals.

The Wolves host Canistota (10-3) on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
