PHOTO OF THE DAY: ELECTION DAY

It’s Election Day and this was the scene inside Freeman City Hall Tuesday morning as the joint city/school election was underway. Four races will be decided in Freeman:

Mayor Michael Walter is being challenged by Cody Fransen;

Ward 1 councilor Charles Gering is being challenged by Erin Lachman;

And in Ward 3, Terry Jacobsen and Shelley Wanninger are seeking to fill the final year of the term left vacant with the resignation of Tabitha Schoenwald late last year.

For Freeman School Board, there is a three-way race for two seats as incumbents Emily Andersen and Doug McCune are being challenged by Chris Sayler.

And there’s one race in Marion as there is a four-way battle for two seats on the Marion School Board; incumbents Scott Tieszen and Jared Schmidt are being challenged by Kyle Gossen and Dave Pankratz.

All polls close at 7 p.m. and The Courier will post results as soon as they are made available.
