POLICE PURSIT ENDS IN FREEMAN TUESDAY NIGHT

The Freeman Police Department was one of several law enforcement agencies in pursuit of an individual who had driven from Lennox into Freeman in a white Chevrolet Impala with tinted windows late Tuesday night, April 9.

Freeman Police Chief Jay Slevin told The Courier Wednesday morning that the individual had not been apprehended; “We did a thorough search but were unable to pick up a trail,” he said.

Slevin said he does not believe there is any danger to the community.

Tuesday night’s pursuit included Lennox PD who followed the driver into Freeman not long before 11 p.m., coming in from the east on Sixth Street. Other law enforcement agencies involved included Lincoln and Hutchinson counties, the Highway Patrol and Menno PD.

Slevin said most of the action in Freeman took place around the block that includes Munkvold’s Car Wash, which the driver circled three times before hitting a vehicle parked on Fourth Street and fleeing on foot. That’s when police lost sight of the subject, Slevin said.

Slevin also said it appears as though Freeman was the destination and that police believe they know who the subject is and are working to build a case against the individual.

No other information is being made available at this time.
