PHOTO OF THE DAY: RAIN LEAVES MARK

The impact of as much as 3 inches of rain that has fallen across the community since late last week can be seen by standing water everywhere — including at the local baseball and softball fields. While the moisture is welcomed, it is resulting in scheduling challenges. The planting season is now delayed and student-athletes are being forced to adapt to altered schedules. Baseball games last week were canceled or postponed, the Junior High Cornbelt Conference golf tournament scheduled for today was postponed because of a wet course, and there’s some question about the Don Diede Relays scheduled for Tuesday, as more rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast.
