FREEMAN BACCALAUREATE SET FOR SUNDAY

Graduates from Freeman Academy and Freeman Public, their families and the larger community is invited to attend the Freeman Ministerial Association’s 2024 baccalaureate this Sunday afternoon, May 5. The worship service and tribute to the Class of 2024 will begin at 4 p.m. at the Freeman Community Center, with a taco luncheon to follow. The guest speaker will be Pastor Stuart Curry of the Salem MB Church, and the service will be live-streamed on the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church’s YouTube channel.

Here’s what Stephen Roussos of the Freeman Missionary Church had to say about this year’s group of graduates.

“This year’s high school graduating class is a part of Generation Z (1997-2012). Gen Z’ers are the first to be born into a world where they know nothing else besides being constantly connected to one another, albeit through phones, screens, and tablets. However, like millennials before them, Gen Z’ers care deeply about others, are highly collaborative and social, value flexibility, relevance, authenticity, and have a pragmatic attitude about the work that has to be done to address society’s issues. Gen Z’ers are changing the conversation around mental health and are more likely to report mental health concerns than other generations. And they are politically aware. They are the future leaders of our communities, our churches, and our nation. Soon, they will walk across the stages of their respective schools and receive their high school diplomas.”

Graduation at Freeman Public is Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. while graduation at Freeman Academy is Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m.
