BUSE EARNS MEDAL, OTHERS COMPETE AT STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT

Class B Tournament held in Brookings; FA junior ties for 22nd

Jada Buse, who will be a senior at Freeman Academy this coming fall, earned a medal at the Class B 2024 SDHSAA State Golf Tournament held in Brookings Monday and Tuesday, June 3 and 4. Competing at Edgebrook Golf Course with 97 others, Buse shot a 91 on Monday and a 94 on Tuesday to finish with a 185, good enough for a tie for 22nd place.

Buse was 51st at state as a sophomore.

Also representing local student-athletes in Brookings earlier this week were three freshmen and a sophomore who make up the Freeman Public boys varsity team.

Freshman Tannen Auch finished best for the Flyers in the 133-golfer field, tying for 36th. Competing in his third state golf tournament, Auch shot an 82 on Monday and an 85 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 167.

Freshman Oliver Waltner tied for 89th with a 93 on Monday and an 88 on Tuesday for a 181 total.

Freshman Alaric Knittel tied for 105th after shooting a 93 on Monday and a 96 on Tuesday for a 189.

And Sophomore Thor Aanenson tied for 111th with a 94 on Monday and a 98 on Tuesday for a total of 192.

Scotland/Menno was also represented in the Class B girls field.

Menno freshman Evie Foss tied for 31st with a 189; she shot a 93 on Monday and a 96 on Tuesday. Scotland sophomore Kailin Odens tied for 69th with a 207; she shot a 111 on Monday and a 96 on Tuesday.

Jade Buse, who will be a senior at Freeman Academy this fall, tied for 22nd at state in Brookings earlier this week.
