PHOTO OF THE DAY: NIGHT LIGHTS

The Freeman Area Veterans Memorial is pictured in the foreground as fireworks light up the June 30 night sky over Freeman. It was the grand finale of what was a fun day as hundreds converged on the ball field grounds for the community’s Independence Day Celebration. The Marion/Freeman Rebels youth baseball teams were all in action, the Freeman/Marion 14u and Freeman/Canistota 16u Sticks both won over Scotland/Menno by a combined score of 23-1 and the Post 152 79ers defeated a good Madison team 3-1. But things didn’t go so well for the Blacksox in amateur action in the nightcap as Freeman was without a hit and committed five errors in an 11-0 loss to Tabor.
