PHOTO OF THE DAY: A WELCOME SIGN

There were plenty of smiles and lots of photo opportunities as hundreds flocked to the sixth annual South Dakota Chislic Festival on Saturday. This large sign welcomed guests by the main entrance at the Freeman Prairie Arboretum, where the large gathering celebrating the state’s official food has been held five of its six years. The 2024 festival was another success as folks from around the state — and country — converged on the park-like setting located in the southwestern corner of Freeman. The event spanned nine hours, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., with live music throughout the day. Watch for a full report in the upcoming issue of The Courier.
