PHOTO OF THE DAY: A FREEMAN WELCOME

The sign at Highway 81 and 44 welcoming travelers to Freeman is flanked with a banner promoting the Freeman Volunteer Firehouse Rib Cook-Off against a recent August sunset. The 11th annual fundraiser for the local fire department is being held this afternoon and evening, with a bean bag tournament beginning at 1 p.m., kids water fight at 2 p.m., bingo later in the afternoon and the serving of ribs and brisket starting at 5 p.m. All activities are being held at the Swimming Pool Park on the north side of town.
