PHOTO OF THE DAY: GROUND UP
Anybody who has driven past the landfill/rubble site just to the southwest of Freeman in the past few days has likely noticed these large piles of rock — the tallest of which is actually ground material from the large blocks of concrete previously hauled to the site in conjunction with various construction projects in Freeman over the years. It was done last Thursday as a way to recycle 5,000 ton of concrete that had been piled on the site. It can be used by reused by the city of Freeman for various needs — as a road base for future projects on cart paths at the golf course, for example, or sold to others looking for materials.
“It’s a sought-after product, so to have it on hand will be a great asset for the city,” council member Blaine Saarie told The Courier.
